## The difference is night and day

Havyard operates at a high pace in day-to-day work. Every week, many different parties move in and out of the shipyard area, and the need for overview and control is constant – without compromising operational flow.

Together with Jan Olav Gjerde, he has been closely involved in the implementation. Both describe the difference from the previous solution very clearly. “It is like night and day,” says Kjos.

Not just features – but the ability to deliver  
Kjos and Gjerde point to something they believe is often lost in conversations about technology. Many systems cover the basic need on paper. In practice, it is just as much about usability – and about how easy it is to make changes as workflows, roles, and needs evolve. For a shipyard like Havyard, this is crucial: the system must be adjustable on an ongoing basis, without every change becoming a project.

“There is actually real progress”  
In response to this need, they believe supplier follow-up has been an important part of the benefit. “One of the biggest changes after switching to InfoTrack is the service and response time. When we need clarifications or adjustments, we find that we are met quickly and professionally – and that there is actually real progress,” says Kjos. That provides reassurance in an operational environment where things need to work, and where small improvements can have a big impact.

More tasks in one solution  
Havyard also highlights that they can now handle more tasks in one and the same solution, instead of working across several systems. This provides better oversight, less friction, and a simpler workday. At the same time, the usability makes it easier to establish good routines and ensure stable execution over time.

For other shipyards considering modernization, Havyard’s advice is clear: Be specific about what you want to achieve, start with what matters most, and build step by step. That is how you create both control and progress – while giving the organization room to establish good ways of working along the way.
